 What's New for the 2017 Ram 1500?

Ram trucks must work hard from year to year to maintain their reputation. The 1500 has a spot at the top of the Edmunds Buyers Guide, and it is also a Consumer Digest Best Buy in its class. In both cases, the honors have been earned for three years and counting. The 2017 Ram has a slightly different trim level list than the 2016 edition. The manufacturer has also added more fun features such as a wireless charger and a WiFi hotspot. Having WiFi can make life easier, especially when you spend part of a workday stuck a remote construction site. High quality cabins are standard even on the basic Tradesman. Ram uses higher quality materials and a contemporary design to achieve a welcoming interior. Smooth ride quality is assured by Ram's unique standard rear suspension, pushing it to the front of its class when it comes to handling bumps and dips. Extensive sound insulation techniques keep noise out of the cabin, again pushing the truck to the front of the class. Favorite amenities include ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and power-adjusting pedals. Offering a new look, the Ram Night package has added a sport performance hood and black wheels. A black grille and other black accents wrap up the look. The ten editions offered this year include the feisty Rebel and the luxury Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, and limited.

An eight-speed automatic transmission now comes standard, adding precision. Whether the truck is for your personal use, your daily trade, or a business fleet, there’s a Ram to match your needs. Towing up to 7,600 pounds, the practical V-6 is made for tough duties. It cranks out 305 horsepower. Boosting tow ratings to 9,400 pounds, an exclusive EcoDiesel generates 420 lb.-ft. of torque to assist its 240 horsepower. Although Ram’s turbo diesel has been available for several years, it remains the only V-6 diesel in the light duty class. Stepping up, the gas-powered V-8 offers a one-two punch of 395 horses and 410 lb.-ft. Tow ratings jump to 10,640 pounds. In yet another exclusive still unmatched in the class, Ram offers the only load-leveling air suspension on light duty trucks today. Five settings allow the driver to have some say in how the system operates. On the highway, it may automatically lower the bed to reduce air friction. Workers may raise the bed to gain ground clearance on a messy jobsite, and adventure-seekers can do the same to avoid trail obstacles.
